2021 Queensland Chain Reaction Challenge - MGD
8 June 2021

Recently, following months of dedicated training, John Barton and Brett Schmidt rode as part of the MGD/TRACTION Team in the 2021 Queensland Chain Reaction Challenge.

The team participated in a challenging yet rewarding seven-day, 1000-kilometre loop of South East Queensland. The peloton set out from Brisbane, headed south towards the Gold Coast, ascended through the Lamington National Park, and rolled away from the mountains into the Scenic Rim Region of Kooralbyn. As the ride closed in, the group headed past Queen Mary Falls towards Warwick and through the Darling Downs to Toowoomba, before heading back to Brisbane where a warm greeting of family and friends awaited.

Overall, the group surpassed their fundraising goal of $600,000, and were able to raise a remarkable sum of $803,007 (at the date of writing). All funds raised go towards the incredible life-changing work of children charities, AEIOU Foundation for children with autism and TRACTION.

AEIOU Foundation helps thousands of children with autism to develop life skills that support them to engage in everyday life, and participate at home, in the community, at school, and in the workforce.

TRACTION engages local communities and serves those most in need by providing a safe, inclusive, action-based environment where vulnerable youth build self-esteem, find a sense of belonging, discover their potential, and create their own future.
