Recently, we hosted our MGD Investor Forum 2019. The event took place at The Grove in the CBD and was attended by more than 120 guests.
We first heard from Sean Hollins, Portfolio Manager of Willis Towers Watson, who unpacked some of the issues, challenges and opportunities that Willis Towers Watson are working on with our Investment Committee as well as some of the complexities around fund manager selection.
We also heard from investment governance experts, Dr Michael Drew and Dr Adam Walk, who, alongside Stephen Furness, shared their expertise, thoughts and views on some important concepts relevant to all investors. One of the key takeaways from the conversation was the need to understand what’s important to you and what you hope your portfolio achieves for you in the short and long-term, as well as opening up this conversation on an individual, family and adviser level. They also discussed the importance of avoiding misadventure, chasing yield and taking unnecessary risk in our current lower-for-longer environment.
By all accounts, our guests found the night enjoyable and informative. Here’s a video overview and a selection of photos from the night.
